September auction highlights: Top 5 cars we sold last month
Friday, 02 October 2026 | James Coleman
September was apparently the month of the fast German SUV.
Our five biggest CARBIDS sales included two twin-turbo performance SUVs from Mercedes-AMG and BMW, a seven-seat Mercedes-Benz hybrid, plus a Toyota Kluger for anyone who prefers their family transport without 375 kW and a Race Mode.
And sneaking into fifth was a near-new MINI Countryman with barely 13,000km on the clock.
Here’s the rundown:

2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S 4MATIC+.
1. 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S 4MATIC+
$49,215 (+ 12.5% buyer’s premium) | Closed 10 September
Taking top honours for September, the GLC63 S is what happens when someone decides what is otherwise a perfectly sensible family SUV needs a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 375kW.
The flagship S also brought 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, a mechanical locking rear differential, dynamic engine mounts (we didn't know that was a thing either), AMG Ride Control and Race Mode - presumably for those particularly urgent school runs.
Finished in Cavansite Metallic Blue, this example had travelled 114,968km and came with 21-inch AMG wheels, composite brakes with red calipers, panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather, heated sports seats, head-up display and a 13-speaker sound system.

2019 BMW X3 M Competition.
2. 2019 BMW X3 M Competition
$47,530 (+ 12.5% buyer’s premium) | Closed 17 September
Not far behind was Germany's other answer to what must have been a similar question.
This Donington Grey X3 M Competition packed BMW M's twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six, along with the Competition Package bringing more power, revised suspension, an active differential, different exhaust and 21-inch 765M wheels.
Showing 105,380km, it also featured black Merino leather, heated sports seats, head-up display, active cruise control, surround-view cameras, a 16-speaker sound system and both remote keys.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4MATIC.
3. 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4MATIC
$36,980 (+ 12.5% buyer’s premium) | Closed 10 September
Things become slightly more sensible in third place.
The GLE450 combines a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, all-wheel drive and seating for seven, making it considerably more family-friendly than the AMG above while still being rather far removed from basic transport.
This Iridium Silver example had travelled 156,728km and was particularly well equipped, with a panoramic sunroof, leather interior, heated and massaging front seats, surround-view cameras, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 13-speaker Burmester sound system.

2021 Toyota Kluger GXL Hybrid AWD.
4. 2021 Toyota Kluger GXL Hybrid AWD
$34,200 (+ 12.5% buyer’s premium) | Closed 30 September
And now for something actually sensible.
The seven-seat Kluger GXL pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with Toyota's hybrid system and all-wheel drive, which probably makes more sense for transporting a family than anything occupying the first two spots on this list.
Finished in Galena Blue, this example had travelled 92,258km and came with partial service history, two remote keys and NSW registration through to November. Equipment included leather trim, heated and powered front seats, radar cruise control, satellite navigation, roof racks, a tow bar and Redarc trailer brake controller.

2024 MINI Countryman C Core.
5. 2024 MINI Countryman C Core
$33,850 (+ 12.5% buyer’s premium) | Closed 17 September
Rounding out September's top five was also by far the newest car here.
This current-generation MINI Countryman C Core was only around two years old and had travelled just 13,815km, powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Its equipment included 18-inch alloys, LED lighting, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, keyless entry and MINI's enormous central touchscreen – because, as we know, even the speedometer isn't safe from the modern world's screen obsession.

2025 Volkswagen Transporter TDI SWB.
